With joint efforts by Autohome and Hunan Satellite TV, the Autohome 818 Global Car Night Gala in 2019, a live show at night, was perfectly concluded on the evening of 18th August 2019. The event, the first of its kind globally, saw several music heavyweights on stage, together with vintage cars that have enjoyed a history of 130 years.

The audio devices for the event were supplied by Hunan Yigao Performing & Engineering Company, and the building of sound reinforcement systems on site was in the charge of Ms. Long Shan. ACE sent a technical team to offer onsite technical support.

As the first global live auto evening gala, the event was staged at Hall W1 with an area of approximately 14,000 square meters in the Changsha International Convention and Exhibition Center. Due to the particularity of choreography, the audience area sat on both sides of the stage, which required its primary sound reinforcement system to reinforce sound according to different areas.

Two groups of JBL VTX V25 full-range line-array speakers and a group of JBL VTX G28 line-array subwoofers were respectively applied to either side of the audience area that combined to form the primary sound reinforcement system. 10 full-range line-array speakers as a group were suspended in the air in front of the audience area, with 40 JBL VTX V25 speakers used for the event, while the subwoofers were ground stacked, with 10 JBL VTX G28 subwoofers as a group juxtaposed on the ground in front of the audience area, 20 of them in total for the event.

A group of 2 JBL VTX V20 dual 10” full-range line-array speakers as a frontfill system was applied to either side of the area in front of the audience area. In terms of stage monitoring, multi-point sound sources were chosen as a result of the complexity of the onsite sound stage to allow sound to reach every corner of the venue. 20 JBL VTX V20 speakers and 60 branded speakers of various types were used for stage monitoring and in-venue sound fill.

As JBL’s best partner, CROWN power amplifiers (PAs) have always supported the perfect performance of JBL behind the stage. The CROWN ITHD series digital PAs as part of the onsite primary sound reinforcement system had powerful built-in DSP and original programmes of JBL speakers that combined to offer superb effects. And considering the onsite cable installations, the primary sound reinforcement full-range line-array PA cabinets were suspended in the rear with the speakers, to ensure minimum length of the installed speaker cables and loss of sound. Also, to ensure the safety of audio signals to PAs, a primary audio signal system and a secondary one were applied, with the former having analog signals and the latter having analog signals transformed into optical fibres that were again transformed into analog signals to be transmitted into PAs.
