The Zhuhai Chimelong Theater opened in July 2019, where a brand new immersive show created with the funding of the Chimelong Group was put on stage every night. As the 2nd permanent venue for performing arts at the Chimelong International Ocean Resort in Hengqin of Zhuhai, the Theater is located at the center of the Resort, with a total floor area of up to 63,000m2. With over 6,700 seats, a 270° panoramic annular stage, 3 big circular waterways, a giant open-and-close LED screen of 1,300m2, and a 250m+ 360° annular track suspended at a high level, the Theater adopted the world’s advanced scientific and technological devices and very creative designs to create a fabulous and fantastic scene.

There were about 3,000 devices controlled by system and over 2,000 lighting fixtures of which the LED-based multi-beam effects light fixture Sharbar of the Italian Clay Paky was installed on the upward of the giant screen. Given the sheer size of the show, the designers were very careful in selecting the appropriate devices, especially the control system. So they finally chose the German MA Lighting as the lighting control system. Throughout the event, 2 grandMA3 full-size consoles and 13 grandMA3 PU_M were used, with 61,440 control parameters for the entire lighting control system.

“At the initial design stage, the lighting consoles only controlled all the lighting fixtures, but actually more devices of other kinds would also need to be controlled, such as the laser system, the LED lattice system, and devices for creating special stage effects. The reason why we chose the MA Lighting devices is that they have great scalability which allows them to connect with other systems via network cables only and to offer back-up solutions,” said the designers, “in terms of technical support, we have been delighted to work with ACE, as they offered not only good products but extensive technology and experience. They provided quick solutions to problems occurring on site and patiently gave detailed introductions, which was very helpful.”

The MA Lighting control system used for this occasion is a case in point, which has been applied to other performing events as well. It’s very stable, which is very important to us.
