Information

Interface helps delivers connectivity
Soundcraft Si Impact digital consoles can improve input and output (I/O) performance with option cards, such as MADI, Dante, AVIOM A-Net, CobraNet, AES/EBU, and BLU Link, which are the main industry-standard interfaces for connection-oriented communication in the current audio industry. Digital consoles are more convenient and powerful in expansion than analog ones do, making it possible to maintain its leading position in audio reinforcement.

MADI
The MADI I/O card can establish a 64-channel MADI I/O to a remote device such as stagebox, another console or Broadcast feed to an OB. Optical inputs and outputs are provided on SC connectors and are available in single and multi-mode versions. The auxiliary port can be used as a redundant link.

The Soundcraft® MADI-USB Combo card offers digital audio connection with an Si series console and any of the Soundcraft range of stage boxes via its Cat 5 MADI, as well as with Apple® Mac® or PC via a USB port.

The single-port Cat5 MADI card needs only one Cat5 cable to run, but redundancy in case of cable failure is not possible. The card is supplied with a Mini stage box when specified.

AVIOM A-NET® 16
This card allows the console to digitally feed an Aviom A-Net Pro-16 chain. With this standard, 16 mono signals can be fed to any number of Aviom personal mixers (such as the A-16 II), connected in a daisy chain configuration. The A-Net card will be the start of the chain and provide the audio and synchronization data to the chain.

CobraNet®
This card allows sending and receiving of up to 32 audio channels to/from a CobraNet® network. DIP switches on the card allow setting the number of input or output channels seen by the console. Default setting is 32 output and 32 input channels.

AES/EBU
There are two optional AES/EBU cards:
1. An XLR-based card with 2 pairs of AES/ EBU inputs and outputs (4-in/4-out).

2. A D-Type connector based AES/EBU input/output card with 8 inputs and 8 outputs. A separate BNC connector for wordclock output is provided.

Dante™
The DANTE card connects to an Audinate DanteTM network, and allows the console to send and receive up to 64 channels in each direction.

BLU Link
The BLU link card can send and receive 32 channels onto a BLU link bus. It interfaces with the dbx PMC16 Personal Monitor Controller, and BSS Soundweb devices which have BLU link ports.

Si option card application
Application Example 1: using the MADI card to offer digital audio connection between a Soundcraft Si Impact console and a MSB via the Cat 5 cable helps deliver more cost-effective expansion connection. The maximum effective working distance can reach up to 100 meters. A standard multi-mode fibre optical card offers a maximum connection distance of up to 1500 meters. And a single-mode fibre optical version of it can expand the connection distance to 10 kilometers.

Application Example 2: the A-NET®16 card outputs direct digits from auxiliary or group through a single Cat5 enhanced cable to connect with Aviom® A-NET® Pro16TM series personal console (compatible with A-16II and A360). The bandsmen on the Pro16 stage can receive a maximum of 16 mic/line subgroups, and can use their controllers on stage to mix according to one's own preferences.

Application Example 3: the BLU Link offers 32 inputs and 32 outputs to/from BSS BLU Link ring network, applicable to connect with the BSS London networked audio system or dbx PMC personal monitor.

Application Example 4: the Dante card is able to send and receive 64 channels to Dante network, and conduct audio exchanges with other Dante-based devices, such as with SHURE ULX4Q wireless mic to transmit Dante signals. With standard Ethernet connection, it’s also able to connect 64 audio channels directly with a computer or Mac for recording and mixing, making it possible to personally create and produce music.

Network wiring and setting can be done by running the external computer of Dante controller software (available at the Audinate website). All these applications and functions can be available just by adding an expansion card to the Soundcraft Si Impact digital console!

Conclusion
All the superb performances of a Soundcraft Si Impact digital console are right here for you to see!
