Folk Opera Mount Yimeng, jointly produced by Shandong Provincial Publicity Department, Shandong Provincial Culture and Tourism Department, Linyi Municipal Party Committee, and Linyi Municipal Government, and choreographed by Shandong Opera House, made its debut in Shandong Provincial Capital Culture and Art Center Grand Theatre on December 19th and 20th.

With the Anti-Japanese War running throughout the opera, the Party members, the government, the military and the people in the revolutionary base of Mount Yimeng sharing weal and woe as its background, and the Mount Daqing Breakout and the Yuanzi Cliff War as the stories, the opera dealt with the main characters (Hai Tang, Lin Sheng, Xia He, etc.) sacrificing themselves for standing with the military to fight the Anti-Japanese War when confronted with the life-and-death question in regards to the country, and the ideals and religions. Not only did it vividly demonstrate the people of the Mount Yimeng supporting and joining in the army and fighting the War, but it portrayed many live images, among whom villager of Yazi Hai Tang was a representative figure who was resolute, brave, and selfless.

MA Lighting was used as the lighting control system for the event. Approximately 7,000 parameters were used for the lighting outfit. Two grandMA2 Light were adopted respectively for the primary and the secondary. The NPU was used as parameter expansion, allowing the lighting system to have up to 8,192 available parameters. The MA can simultaneously support multiple protocol transmissions, including MA2-Net, Art-Net, sACN, and ETC. The MA2-Net protocol transmission was used between two grandMA2 Light and the NPU. Several protocols that included Art-Net, sACN, and ETC were applied to the system of the Theatre. And the lighting outfit was controlled by data transmission between sACN and MA.

For the video system, the Arkaos software was installed in two Apple Mac Pros for projecting control. MA programming and control can be conveniently and directly realized by adopting grandMA3 Mode2 to control Arkaos. Arkaos supports transmissions between MA2-Net and Art-Net protocols in the Windows system, but is limited to supporting the Art-Net protocol transmissions in Apple’s OS system. So this time, the Art-Net protocol was used to control Arkaos. Two grandMA3 Light delivered real-time backup, greatly improving the safety of the system to ensure perfect performance. Optical signal transmissions between Arkaos and the projector helped make sure the signals were efficiently and rapidly transmitted.

As the famous lyricist Mr. Wang Xiaoling said, the greatest difference that this opera Mount Yimeng bears from the past Yimeng-related repertory is that it reflected the history of the people of the Mount Yimeng fighting the Anti-Japanese War from a panoramic view. All the arias were created by Mr. Wang Xiaoling and Mr. Li Wenxu, while the music was composed by Mr. Luan Kai, which contributed greatly to the story lines, perfectly demonstrating the spirit of the people of Mount Yimeng.
