MA Lighting from German and Avolites from UK take action jointly to fight against counterfeiting on GETshow 2018

On the afternoon of May 9, the German MA lighting and the UK Avolites jointly took a series of actions to fight against counterfeit at the exhibition site with the strong support of the GETshow organizers. This is another joint action of these two major stage lighting control system brands following the Prolight+sound Frankfurt in April,.

Led their teams, the German MA lighting Business Development Director Franco Zaghini, and the UK Avolites Sales Director Koy Neminathan negotiated with those counterfeit manufacturers onsite and asked them to remove all the infringing products displaying.

The manufacturers involved in counterfeiting include but not limited to:

1.Guangzhou Fine Line Performing Arts Equipment Co., Ltd.
(Counterfeit German MA Lighting grandMA2 series products)
2. Jiangsu YeLighting Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.
(Counterfeit German MA Lighting grandMA2 series products)

3. Guangzhou YPL Lighting Equipment Co., Ltd.
(Counterfeit German MA Lighting grandMA2 series products)
4. Guangzhou Guoda Electronic Technology Development Co., Ltd.
(Counterfeit German MA Lighting grandMA2 and UK Avolites Titan series products)
5. Guangzhou LiWei Lighting Technology Co., Ltd.
(Counterfeit German MA Lighting grandMA2 and UK Avolites Titan series products)

From launching grandMA series in 1997, to launching grandMA2 series in 2008 and the grandMA3 series in 2018, MA Lighting has been widely applied and recognized in the world with more than 20 years of development, and has also become the target of counterfeiting by a few of Chinese manufacturers.
"As manufacturers, we have invested a lot of time, money, manpower and energy over the years to provide the best stage lighting control system for our users. Our intellectual property rights should be respected," said Franco Zaghini. “MA Lighting's grandMA2 series software and hardware all have the relevant copyrights. And all of MA Lighting grandMA2 softwares, including those based on Windows platform, are only valid when using on our own hardware platforms. Using any hardware developed by any other manufacturers to run our system will constitute piracy and patent infringement with illegally cracking.”

He continued, "Innovation is the foundation our industry relies on. If we let these acts of disrespect for innovation go unchecked, it will ultimately lead to the demise of this industry. We expect all users do not support this behavior, meanwhile MA lighting and Avolites will continue to fight piracy and patent infringement worldwide. The actions on Prolight+sound Frankfurt in April and this GETshow in Guangzhou are just a start.”

Koy Neminathan stated, "Thanks to the strong promote and support for intellectual property protection from China National Intellectual Property Administration, the General Administration of Quality Supervision of the People's Republic of China and the GETshow organizers, some Chinese producers have removed off their counterfeit Avolites and MA lighting products. Openly showing and selling the counterfeit Avolites and MA lighting products on such a prestigious industry exhibition GETshow, has constituted a very bad illegal infringement of intellectual property rights. We must take actions to protect our own legitimate rights and interests.”

Some domestic producers have been illegally counterfeiting MA lighting and Avolites products for a long time. In the early development of manufacturing, it is understandable to learn some advanced technology abroad by imitation. However, piracy and infringement are completely different from imitation and learning. If the behaviors actually are piracy and infringement under the excuse of "imitation and learning", it can only become a cancer of the industry, but also a stark criminal act.

The plan “Made in China 2025” have set more ambitious goals for our manufacturing industry. Our manufacturing industry needs more innovation, also needs to strengthen IPR protection. We certainly should support Chinese manufacturing, but not this kind of "Made in China". Otherwise, if in the future we face again the same sanctions that the United States has imposed on ZTE and the trade war against our entire manufacturing industry, we will have no cards to play.
