Hosted by Tencent WeGame and organized by VSPN, the grand finale of e-sports event - 2017 KPL King Pro League Autumn Competition Finals, was staged in Chunjian Gymnasium of Shenzhen Bay Sports Center on December 23, 2017.
“Super Bowl” in E-sports
VSPN made great efforts to package the 2017 KPL Autumn Finals as the well-deserved "Super Bowl" in mobile e-sports. On the opening show, a popular song Li Bai brought the audience on the scene and before the screen into the atmosphere of Finals. Then the famous host, with his signature fast speaking speed, announced the 2017 KPL Autumn Competition Finals opening.
Competition at Top Level
The "QQ War" between QGhappy and XQ teams finally kicked off. The fans unfurled the banners and shouted loudly for supporting. In the first three matches, two teams have chased each other. The score came to 2:1, QGhappy was leading. In the second half, Qghappy continued to launch offensives and then got one more point. XQ had been catching up the score to 3:2 once under such unfavorable circumstances. At last QGhappy defeated XQ at 4:2, getting the legendary three-peat and the 2017 Grand Slam!
High-level Audio Production
In this Final, VSPN still pursued the high production standards. The audio system was provided by Shanghai Weiyin Stage Engineering Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Frequency Response Conference System Equipment Co., Ltd. together. The system design and on-site technical support were provided by Advanced Communication Equipment (International) Co., Ltd.
To meet the performance requirements of the four-sided stage, we used 36 JBL VTX-V25II, 32 JBL VT4889 and 16 JBL VTX-G28 Line Array Subwoofers to provide a full range of sound coverage for over 10,000 audiences.
16 ENNE AL2 Line Array Speakers were used for front-fill; 4 ENNE DK12 were used as fill speaker in fans area; and other 8 ENNE DK12 were used for stage monitor. Crown IT12000HD and ENNE AnyRack were selected for the power amplifier system. One JBL STX812 Point Source Speaker was placed behind the player of each team. We will introduce this “secret weapon” later.
As for the PA system, we used 2 Soundcraft Vi600 to be main/redundant console for each other through 2 BSS London Processors. This collocation has become a standard configuration in the major live programs - 2 mixers with mirror function can be controlled logically and switched seamlessly through the London Processor, guaranteed maximum safety and reliability without compromising the sound quality. In addition, 2 Soundcraft Vi3000 were used in broadcasting as main/redundant console for each other, switching between each other, and exchanging MADI signals through OP-HUB developed by ACE.
We deployed 16 channels SHURE ULXD Digital Wireless System on the show, and 2 channels SHURE Top Axient Digital Wireless System for the host and players. Using KSM8 Microphone with Dualdyne design, the host no longer needs to worry about the proximity effect.
“Artifact” JBL STX812
Everyone knows that each player will wear a headset during the game. One purpose is for the players of same team can communicate with each other in the game; another purpose is to isolate the live commentary in PA sound - if the player heard the live commentary talking about the progress of game, it is tantamount to cheating. However, as the sound pressure of live PA is particularly high, it is difficult to be completely isolated by the headset. For this reason, we placed a JBL STX812 speaker behind each team to play very loud unrelated music during the game, ensuring the players cannot hear the live commentary completely.
