The Ninth Meeting of BRICS Leaders was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province from September 3 to 5, 2017. The theme of the meeting is "Stronger BRICS Partnership for a Brighter Future". The Dialogue of Emerging Markets and Developing Countries themed as "Strengthening Mutually-Beneficial Cooperation for Common Development" was also held in these days. Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the Meeting and the Dialogue, and attended associated events such as the Opening Ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum.
The BRICS comprise of five countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The traditional BRIC countries cite the initials of Brazil, Russia, India and China. Because the word is similar to the word “brick” in English, these countries were called the BRIC countries. After South Africa joined, that word have become "BRICS" and renamed "BRICS countries".
BRICS cooperation has traversed a glorious journey of one decade. Though separated by mountains and oceans, our five countries have been closely bound by a shared commitment to win-win cooperation. Past progress shows that BRICS cooperation has met our common need for development and is in keeping with the trend of history. Though we have different national conditions, we share the commitment to pursuing development and prosperity through partnership. This has enabled us to rise above differences and seek win-win results.
As the world undergoes profound and complex changes, BRICS cooperation has become more important. Our people expect us to jointly boost development and improve their well-being. The international community expects us to make contribution to world peace and common development. We must redouble our efforts to comprehensively deepen BRICS partnership and usher in the second “Golden Decade” of BRICS cooperation.
Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center was extremely important as the main venue of BRICS Business Summit. The meeting venue was designed by Radio Film & Television Design & Research Institute. Beijing EMH Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. has undertaken the system installation and commissioning work. ACE provided technical support to ensure the project implemented smoothly.
The main venue of Business Summit was about 62m x 35m x 9m and can accommodate nearly 1200 people. The sound reinforcement system used the traditional stereo method, hanging 10 JBL VTX V20 Line Array Speakers on each side of the stage. In total 20 PA Line Array Full-range Speakers were driven by 20 Crown ITHD4x3500 Power Amplifiers. The V20 Line Array Speaker features JBL's unique dual voice-coil tweeter technology and unique D2 tweeter, resulting in extremely smooth mid-and high-frequency response and very faint high-frequency distortion, guaranteed very good sound clarity and permeability., There deployed 2 JBL VTX S25 Subwoofers under each of two lines of Array Speakers. Every group of Subwoofers were driven by 2 Crown ITHD12000, providing very good ultra-bass response.
Aside from the main PA Speakers, there installed 6 rows of Point Sound Source Speaker JBL AC2212, 4 in each row, 24 in total. Among them, the row above the rostrum used JBL AC2212/64 with narrow angle for stage sound reinforcement. Its horizontal coverage 60° and vertical coverage 40° can better cover the rostrum area. And the remaining 5 rows used JBL AC2212/00 with ultra-wide angle for time-lapse fill, covering the entire auditorium in very uniform sound field.
For audio processing, 2 BSS BLU160 were chosen to distribute and process audio signals. This can ensure seamless switching between the main-standby mixer, also can adjust the sound reinforcement system as a whole.
The control part used two mixers as main-standby system. Main Mixer adopted the latest Soundcraft Vi7000 large Digital Mixer, which can handle up to 128 mixing channels and 32 stereo buses and LCR buses, with maximum 384 signal interfaces can be used at the same time. Soundcraft’s patented Vistonics technology and Faderglow technology make the mixer operation easier and quicker. The operators on site highly praised its intuitive interface and convenient operation. Standby Mixer used the classic Soundcraft MH2 Analog Mixer. Although it has been launched more than 10 years, with its reliability and excellent sound quality, MH2 still can be seen in various large-scale performance and conference venues.
After nearly half a year of installation and system commissioning work, BRICS meeting successfully held. And the system and equipment has been unanimously recognized and praised by users.
