On the night of August 27, 2017, the 13th National Games of the People's Republic of China grandly opened in Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium. The Opening Ceremony Gala of the National Games lasted 50 minutes. Nearly 6000 people participated in the show. The most anticipated feature is the full-screen laser projection throughout of the show. 3D projection technology presented a perfect stereoscopic visual effect, bringing the audience an audio-visual feast of sound and light, and a wonderful and beautiful sensory experience.
For the audio system in the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Ma Xin was the Chief Designer; Yong Sheng International was responsible for construction and commissioning work; and ACE provided equipment and technical support services.
The main PA system adopted JBL VerTec series speakers, including 48 VT4888 dual 12-inch Line Array Speakers and 18 VT4880A dual 18-inch Subwoofers. They were divided into 16 groups and 3+1 per group to cover the lower grandstand on straight direction of the Stadium, and two groups for the rostrum plus an extra 4880A to make the Cardioid ultra-bass. All speakers were driven by Crown IT HD Power Amplifier. In addition, a large number of speakers were arranged to cover the grandstand on direction of the bend, and used as monitor speakers to cover infield performing area. The upper stands were covered by existing fixed-mount Speakers in the Stadium.
Soundcraft Vi Series Digital Mixers were chosen for sound mixing. One Vi5000 and one Vi600 were used as the main and standby mixer respectively. Signal routing, transmission and processing work consist of a large set of BSS systems, which transmitted main/standby signals through BLU-Link loop. With years of practice in performance projects, Yong Sheng team are very experienced in such large-scale activities with high level of security requirements. They used a total of 12 BSS Soundweb London Processor in the system - 2 units used for signal switching between the main and standby mixers, the remaining 10 units deployed at 5 different positions for signal exchange (1 main 1 standby for each position).
All power amplifiers, mixers, processors and wireless devices of the audio system, were connected to a total of 21 distributed switches to network and control centrally. This brought great convenience to the commissioning work, also provided real-time status monitoring of all signal nodes.
The wireless system of the Opening Ceremony used a total of 16 channels Shure UR4D and ULXD Wireless Microphones, and 4 channels Shure PSM1000 Wireless Monitoring System, to mainly cover the rostrum and the field. In order to fundamentally eliminate the risks caused by the "phase problem", the microphones were divided clearly to cover the rostrum and the field two small systems. In such large-scale activities, the RF environment onsite is extremely complex, so the planning and coordination of wireless frequency point is very important. With Shure WWB Workbench software, we scanned the interference sources and properly planned and managed multichannel frequency points to ensure that all wireless frequency points are available, and monitored the performance in real time to ensure that every microphone works well.
For the lighting part of the Opening Ceremony, Beijing Color was responsible for lighting creativity, design and implementation; and ACE provided system hardware upgrades and technical support services.
Lighting control system adopted all MA Lighting products, including: grandMA2 Full Size, grandMA2 Light, grandMA2 Ultra-light, MA NPU, MA 2Port Node and MA 4Port Node. Under the beautiful lighting, the flame of the National Games was lit up, and the Haihe River shined brilliantly.
To ensure the Opening Ceremony goes well, ACE Lighting team has tested all of MA Consoles and NPU, upgraded the motherboards, updated the memories, enhanced the graphics cards, and upgraded all equipment to the latest V3.3 version. These upgraded Consoles and NPU are comparable with brand new equipment.
After nearly 50 days hard work, the Opening Ceremony of 13th National Games presented an audio-visual feast to the national audience. ACE dedicated to providing equipment service and support and well completed the works in such large-scale activities once again.
