Following 2017 Shanghai Chenshan Grassland Broadcast Music Festival, a classic opera Don Juan which was very popular in Europe 300 years ago, staged on Shanghai West Bund beside the Huangpu River on May 21, marked the grand opening of “The Stage West Bund 2017 Shanghai International Waterfront Concert”. It is a public music festival organized by the West Bund Group and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra jointly to create a Waterfront + Opera form with masterpieces, all-star lineup and immersive experience.
As one of the most popular theatrical characters in the 17-18th century, the story of Don Juan has been put on the stage by many theatrical creators. The version chosen for this Concert is the most popular and representative one which is also the most classic of Mozart's opera works. In order to perfectly interpret this masterpiece with profound history and superb artistic level, the most classic performance teams of Mozart's Don Juan were invited to perform jointly.
Besides reproduction of classical opera, the entire performance scene of the event was carefully designed: from the stage landscaping design to the “European medieval town” at the waiting area, from interactive experience to food and wine, The Stage West Bund reproduced the drama scene in every detail. The audience has been immersed therein before the performance beginning. Shanghai Weiyin Stage Engineering Co., Ltd. provided equipment for the event, and ACE provided full technical support as the equipment agent.
The onsite sound reinforcement system used 16 JBL VTX-V20 dual 10” Line Array Speakers as the main PA, 24 JBL VT4889 dual 15” Line Array Speakers for side-fill, 16 JBL VTX-V20 Line Array Speakers for front-fill, 12 JBL VT4880 as subwoofers.
JBL VTX V20 has a true 3-way system design, the proprietary D2 Dualdyne and Dual voice coil compression drive and Differential Drive low-frequency microphone technology, as well as patented ultra-linear motor technology dedicated to midrange components. It includes two 2261H 10” Differential Drive woofers, four 2164H 4” ultra-linear midrange microphones and three new small-sizeD2415K dual drive units.
The onsite sound reinforcement system used Soundcrfaft Vi600 and Vi400 Digital Mixers to form a mirroring standby system. All amplifiers used Crown's flagship ITHD series Digital Amplifiers. With BSS London Processor, the high-quality mixing and security of performances were guaranteed.
Shanghai International Waterfront Concert launched as a brand new cultural event on the West Bund, injecting with the waterfront spirit of Huangpu River, to bring a feast of performing arts in "pan-artistic" thinking and innovative form to the public.
