▲ CCTV Sports Awards Ceremony 2016

The CCTV Sports Awards Ceremony 2016 was held at the National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) on the evening of January 15 and all the winners were announced. It was broadcast live in CCTV sports channel, CCTV.com and CCTV5 mobile phone client.

Among all the 11 awards announced, the Chinese women's volleyball team had the Best Team Award, Judging Panel Award, Best Coach Award and Best Female Athlete Award.

Studer Vista 9 M2, which is a TV broadcast/live production console, and a 20-channel Shure ULX-D™, which is a wireless digital system, were used for this ceremony.

Shure ULX-D™ is known as the “source of signals”, and Studer Vista 9 M2 the “center for processing signals”. They are “the most important two links” for most TV viewers as only wireless equipment and mixing console of perfect functions may be qualified for use in this grand event.

Given the complexity in the use of many audio channels and heavy work for the live coverage, we used Studer Vista 9 M2. Its powerful functions, stable performance and excellent user experience allows it to deliver amazing sound live to TV viewers!

1. Studer Vista 9 M2, which is designed to deliver excellent user experience, monitors the level of each input channel in 5.1 and single channel bus;
2. Based on the patented VISTONICS touch screen technology, a wide-screen TFT meter and FaderGlow functions are added. Different functions are distinguished by different color LEDs on the fader. This makes it more intuitive and easy to distinguish in the live broadcast state.
3. Each of the control console, DSP case, and IO case is provided with a main and a standby power source;
4. The software operation interface in parallel with the console can be set offline and allows real-time control and takeover of all parameters of the mixing console;
5. Studer Relink network technology allows full integration of the Studer family mixing console and matrix, and provides communications with third-party control systems;
6. It may even be connected to the digital audio workstation.

The 20-channel Shure ULX-D™ wireless digital system was used. The Water Cube covers an area of more than 60,000 square meters. The stage required use of a large number of lighting and large led screens, as well as a wide variety of wireless products. Using wireless systems is extremely complicated due to large live performance area and complicated RF environment. The stage sound must be completely picked and then transmitted to the audience and the TV viewers.

Shure ULX-DTM features minimal intermodulation distortion and extremely narrow transmission bandwidth, significantly increasing the number of compatible channels and making it less susceptible to interference. It may stably transmit audio carrier signals over 100 meters of visible range without acoustic distortioncoloring. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) compliant 256-bit encrypted audio signal transmission allows highly secured privacy protection.

Rechargeable lithium battery
The transmitter has a longer battery life as it is provided with a rechargeable lithium battery. The life of lithium ions is measured in hours and minutes and can be accurate to within 15 minutes, and allows the detailed tracking of the battery health.
