Information

Shortly after the Hangzhou G20 Summit “Most memorable is Hangzhou” evening gala, the September welcomed the three-day “Tenglong Cave Midi Festival 2016”. Nearly 100 groups of domestic and foreign outstanding musicians appeared on stage.

As a banner of Chinese rock music, the Midi Festival has already been widely known across China. Innovatively sited in the China’s largest cave, the Tenglong Cave Midi Festival 2016 was celebrated in three stages – Tang Stage, Ming Stage and Midikids Stage simultaneously. It amazed everyone by dissolving rock music, folk music and world music together in the 550,000-year-old huge cave and offered a fascinating experience for music fans from beyond Lichuan City, Hubei Province across the country.

Cui Jian and the Miserable Faith highlighted the Tang stage. In "Rock 'N' Roll on the New Long March", the audience leaped with his roar. The performance of the little musicians on the Midikids Stage vitalized the festival, and repeatedly made it the liveliest.

The sound system for this event was designed by Long Shan from Hunan Yigao Performance Co., Ltd. The company provided the sound system equipment and the relevant services and ACE provided technical supports. The most advanced equipment was used for each of the stages: JBL VTX II top line array speaker system, JBL SRX 800 series, Soundcraft Vi series digital sound mixer, Shure wireless system and the first-ever KSM8 double diaphragm dynamic microphone.

The Tang stage, as the main stage, was located at the entrance of Tenglong Cave. The gorgeous stage and lights  interacted with the natural wonders. The sound system consisted of two sets of twenty-four full-size true three-way JBL VTX V25-II top line array speakers for main sound reinforcement. The V25-II used JBL's new patented medium-high frequency phase correction horn to produce brighter and layered high frequency sound and the right high frequency extension. Eight double 18-inch ultra-low frequency VTX G28 and eight VTX S28 were used to produce powerful and super low frequency sound. Four JBL VP7215 two-way active speakers were used for fore stage sound fill. Four JBL SRX815 two-way speakers supplemented by two JBL SRX828S double 18-inch subwoofers were used for fore stage sound fill. One JBL SRX828S double 18-inch super low frequency woofer were used as subwoofer for the drum set. The JBL speaker system was drivenby 30 CROWN IT12000-HD and twelve CROWN XTI6000 DSP digital power amplifiers.

Since the Tang Stage was located on the opposite side of the Midikids Stage, in hanging the JBL VTX line array main sound reinforcement speaker, Long Shan required the use of the JBL VerTec Line Array Calculator II sound analog software to minimize the interference of the two stages.

Three Soundcraft Vi series digital sound mixer were used: one Soundcraft Vi6 for a live broadcast console and two Soundcraft Vi3000 for main sound reinforcement and sound monitoring.

Multiple sets of Shure wired microphones were used for pickups. A number of UR4D wireless microphones and the first-ever KSM8 dual diaphragm dynamic microphones were also provided.

The Ming Stage was located in the Tenglong Cave. The sound system employed two groups of eight full-size true three-way JBL VTX V25-II top line array speakers supplemented by eight double 18-inch ultra-low frequency VTX G28 for the main sound reinforcement, four JBL VP7215 two-way frequency active speakers for fore stage sound fill, and one JBL SRX828S dual 18-inch subwoofer as a subwoofer for the drum set. The JBL speaker system was driven by eleven CROWN IT12000-HD and four CROWN XTi6000 DSP digital power amplifiers.

Two Soundcraft Vi series digital mixers were used: one Soundcraft Vi6 for main sound reinforcement and one Soundcraft Vi3000 for sound monitoring. Multiple sets of Shure wired microphones were used for sound pickups. A number of UR4D wireless microphones and the first-ever KSM8 dual diaphragm dynamic microphones were also provided.

The sound system for the Midikids Stage consisted of two groups with total twelve JBL VTX V25-II top line array speakers supplemented with six double 18-inch ultra -low frequency VTX G28 as the main sound reinforcement speaker, and driven by fifteen CROWN IT12000-HD DSP digital power amplifiers.

One Soundcraft Vi3000 digital sound mixer was used for main sound reinforcement, one Soundcraft Vi2000 and one Soundcraft Si Expression 3 digital sound mixer for sound monitoring.

Multiple sets of Shure wired microphones were used for sound pickups. A number of UR4D wireless microphones, QLXD wireless microphones and the first-ever KSM8 dual diaphragm dynamic microphones were also provided.

No fault had ever occurred to the sound reinforcement equipment irrespective of the uninterrupted 9-hour high-intensity and high-load performances each day in the high-humidity environment before the curtain call.
