On September 11, 2016, the opening ceremony of the 13th China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit was held in Nanning, Guangxi Province.
This is the first year of the establishment of the ASEAN Community and the upgrading of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. It is also an important year to promote the “Belt and Road” initiative in full swing. The theme of this year's event is “Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Forging a Closer Community of Shared Destiny between China and ASEAN”. Emphasis was laid on the global cooperation on production capacity, China-ASEAN connectivity cooperation, construction of China-ASEAN Information Port and the international park. The initiative received close attention from China and ASEAN countries and other countries beyond.
The opening ceremony was held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center. ACE had the honor to provide all sound reinforcement equipment and accessories, as well as equipment supports and technical supports. The sound mixer used was Soundcraft's latest release Vi2000. This event was also the first show of Vi2000 in China. The Vi2000 has a small size, but powerful functions. It has exactly the same channel and processing design as the Vi3000 does: 96-channel input, 27- busbar output stereo and standard Dante/Madi interface. The only difference is that it has 16 input faders and 12 output faders to complete all operations.
The smallest models V20 and S25 in the JBL VTX series line array series were used for the main sound reinforcement. Although the V20 is a dual 10-inch line array speaker, its highest sound pressure level astonishingly reaches 140dB. The entire audience area was covered with a simple 4+2 portfolio. The use of the patented VTX D2 tweeter guaranteed the clarity of the high pitch sound. This feature makes it the perfect choice for a language program. Six VTX F15 multi-function speakers were used for fore stage sound fill. F15 resembled V20 in the unit design and thus the tone is very close to that of the main system, making system commissioning much easier. The amplifier system all employed the Crown's top-of-the-line ITHD series amplifier drivers.
Since the whole course of the event was broadcast live nationwide, we used a backup program the same as that for the Hangzhou G20 Summit after consulting the sound engineer. A BSS Blu100 processer was provided to allow seamlessly switchover between the active and the standby sound mixers. This improved the stability of the system.
