On July 26, 2016, “Are Niu”, a real-scene fire performance drama showcasing the folk life of the Yi Nationality in Daliang Mountain, was staged in Xichang City, Sichuan Province.
The Yi people have a tradition of fire worship. The Torch Festival, which is known as the “Oriental Carnival”, has already been included in the first batch of state-level intangible cultural heritage list. “Are Niu”, which literally means the youngest female cousin, is the name of a music tune. It expresses a kind of beautiful feelings for life and there are a variety of folk songs composed based on it.
The main PA system employed the JBL VTX V20 full frequency line array speaker and the CRWON ITHD series power amplifier. Each of the left and right sides of the main PA system was provided with eight JBL VTX V20s at the front, and four JBL VTX S25 low frequency speakers behind the full-frequency line array. The precise angle and location for the speakers were determined based on the calculation with the JBL LAC software. This allowed it to cover the entire auditorium and deliver more realistic and shocking experience.
Since the performance area and the control room were far apart, we used optical fiber to transmit the audio signals to the left and right power amplifier rooms and used the BBS BLU806 and MC-1. Due to powerful DSP processing ability of the BSS audio processor, all signal audio processing was immediately and conveniently programmed in the BSS processor.
The main sound reinforcement system and lighting control system for "Are Niu" all used the products agented by ACE. ACE provided equipment installation and commissioning services and whole-course technical supports.
The lighting and video control system consisted of three grandMA2 lighting consoles, two Network Processing Units (NPU), ten 2PortNode, and four Arkaos Media Master Pro video servers.
When talking about the lighting design of "Are Niu", the designer Wang Zhe said: "The drama is based on a beautiful folk tale of the Yi people, showing the warm, deep and unrestrained nature of this nation. Their deep respect for life and being fearless of death are the spiritual core of this drama. I use lights and colors, trying to create a mysterious and powerful force of life. The contrast of colors expresses the unique charm of this nation. When light meets fire, this unique charm gives away greater passion to audience and makes them excited. This time I used the MA second generation control system whose good service and stable performances facilitated our success in such short time."
