The Hong Kong Polytechnic University was established in 1937 as a comprehensive research-based university. It ranks 27th in Asia in the 2014 QS Asian University Rankings and 9th in engineering universities worldwide. It is one of the oldest universities in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University has two campuses. Each campus has about 70 classrooms of different sizes, which are located on different floors. There are more than 140 classrooms throughout the university for daily teaching and seminars. It is urgent for the university to install a separate wireless system that is easy to set up, reliable and effective for each classroom, to replace the previous infra-red wireless microphones that have poor frequency response and are often silent.
